Black History Month 2024 | “Coloring Outside The Lines”
For Black History Month 2024, the ASALH theme was African Americans and the Arts. I took it as a brief.
Coloring Outside the Lines is the profile series I created, directed, shot, edited, and published for the Paul Robeson Cultural Center, the resource center for Black students at Rutgers New Brunswick. Two Black student artists, both working in ways that ignore the standard playbook for what art-making looks like.
Alfred Roosevelt Dudley III on drawing, photography, and sculpture as a way of negotiating diaspora, bloodline, and the communities he comes from.
Two reels. 12,680 views. 67 comments. Black artists, on their own terms.
